John Herbert

John joined the Estate in September 2023 as the Forester for Heanton Woods. His career in forestry began with the National Trust on the Killerton Estate, where he gained the position of Senior Forester.

As a Chartered Forester, John is committed to and champions sustainable productive woodland management. His approach aligns with the Estate’s forestry ambitions, particularly its desire to transition towards continuous cover forestry and proactive woodland stewardship.

John is an active member of the Royal Forestry Society and outside of work, he enjoys exploring the countryside with his partner and their Labrador.
