Bicton Arena named Britain’s top show centre

Bicton Arena, in East Devon, widely regarded as the finest equestrian facility in the South West, has been named Britain’s top show centre by Horse & Hound magazine.

This accolade follows an online poll by Horse & Hound asking their readers to vote for their favourite show centres across the UK.

Helen West, Bicton Arena Manager and professional event rider, said: “Being recognised as Britain’s top show centre is a real testament to our commitment and passion in making Bicton Arena a stand out and memorable place for riders. We would like to thank everyone who kindly voted for us. This is a great achievement for our stunning parkland, and we are thrilled that our hard work has been recognised”.

Olympic eventer, Mary King, praised the arena commenting: “Bicton Arena is a beautiful show centre run by the extremely efficient Helen West and her dedicated team. It has well-maintained surfaces, a friendly atmosphere, and caters for all levels”.

Bicton Arena, located near East Budleigh, offers a thrilling cross-country course through the undulating terrain of the stunning Grade 1 listed parkland, owned by Clinton Devon Estates. The cross-country courses range from 80cm to CIC2* level, all built to BE standard, complemented by three show jumping rings, two competition all-weather arenas and all-weather warm-up. In addition to this there is permanent stabling for 116 horses, 300 temporary stables, and a facilities block.

Bicton Arena plan to introduce a CSI* / CSI2* / YH* show jumping competition in 2019 and is proud to be hosting the British Dressage Regional Championships for the next three years.

There are a number of top events coming up this summer, including the British Eventing One Day Event on Saturday 7 July to Sunday 8 July, and the BD Summer Regional Championships taking place on Thursday 19 July to Saturday 21 July.

The British Dressage event is taking place on Wednesday 8 August, shortly followed by the British Eventing International Horse Trials on Friday 17 August to Sunday 19 August, making Bicton Arena a must-visit place for horse riders and enthusiasts this summer.
