Two new Estate Surveyors have been appointed by Clinton Devon Estates to help manage its commercial and rural interests as it strives towards its 2030 strategy goals.
Jess Baker is swapping responsibilities in central London for the Westcountry and joins from Shaftesbury PLC where she worked as Commercial Asset Manager for the company’s portfolios in Carnaby, Soho and Fitzrovia.
James Clack qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2014 and a RICS registered valuer in 2016. He joins Clinton Devon Estates from Kivells in Exeter, where he worked as a General Practice Surveyor.
Both Jess and James said they welcomed the opportunity to join Clinton Devon Estates which has responsibility for 25,000 acres of farms, woodland and heathland across North and East Devon as well as residential and commercial properties.
As part of the Estates’ progressive 2030 strategy, it has a clear vision for the land and property in its care. The new surveyors will be part of ensuring that the estate demonstrates environmental sustainability across all aspects of the business.
Jess said: “I am really excited to be joining an estate with such a wide range of commercial and environmental interests. Away from work, I am looking forward to exploring the Devon countryside with my family and our cocker spaniel.”
Jess, who took part in cycling events before having her children, is also hoping her relocation to Devon will give her opportunities to get back on her bicycle.
James, who grew up on a family farm and graduated from Harper Adams University in 2011, said joining Clinton Devon Estates represented the perfect fit for his experience and skills.
He said: “In my previous role as an Estates Surveyor I was heavily involved with the management of the Devon County Farms Estate which included the letting of farms and property, and the management of ongoing relationships and agreements.
“I continue to take a keen interest in the family farm and when I am not working, I enjoy cycling around Haldon Forest and kayaking on the River Exe.”
Clinton Devon Estates’ Chief of Staff Ben Rudkin said: “We are delighted to welcome two very talented and experienced surveyors to work on our rural and commercial interests. I am sure both Jess and James will prove to be huge assets to the team.”
