Jockeys, eventers and show jumpers will go head-to-head in an obstacle relay race this Saturday, September 8th, in aid of mental health charity Mind.
Members of the public are invited to watch the exciting spectacle, which is taking place at Bicton Arena at 7.30pm and will be followed by a disco in the marquee.
The Bicton Arena Charity Challenge will raise funds for Mind through donations and sponsorship. The event is free to watch but a donation to the charity is encouraged.
Three riders – a jockey, a show jumper and an eventer – will race over a series of obstacles before passing the baton to their next team member, with the fastest team going through to the next round until the final riders remain.
Bicton Arena manager Helen West, said: “It is always a great night and hugely entertaining. It’s always such a lot of fun to watch the teams pit their wits against each other and fly down the course which this year includes the steeple chase fence as the final obstacle before the gallop down the home straight.”
Jockey Nick Scholfield, added: “Mind is an important charity and all of the jockeys are delighted to help raise money for it. Taking part is always great fun.”
