Granite topograph is the crown of Plumb Park

Lord Clinton was joined by local dignitaries and representatives of Clinton Devon Estates and Taylor Wimpey for the unveiling of a striking granite topograph on the top of Donkey Hill at Exmouth’s new Plumb Park development.

The monument which indicates key features in the surrounding landscape crowns the hilltop park which forms part of 14 acres of public open space being created as part of the joint venture project between Taylor Wimpey and Littleham 2010, a Clinton Devon Estates company.

Visible from Donkey Hill on a clear day, and marked on the topograph, are Phear Park, Orcombe Point and the National Trust property A la Ronde, as well as landmarks further afield such as Mamhead Castle, Portland Bill and Berry Head.

Head of Property and Land at Clinton Devon Estates, Leigh Rix, said: “The topograph is a fitting crown for Plumb Park which has been sensitively designed to provide new homes and open space for the community of Exmouth. The unveiling of the monument not only marks the four points of the compass and some of the key local landmarks, it also marks a significant milestone in this important project which began well over eight years ago.”

Located off Buckingham Close, Plumb Park will provide 264 new homes set within landscaped public open space including a community orchard and allotments. The project was masterplanned by the Exeter studio of LHC Design, who are the technical advisors on the project, and features distinctive avenues to complement Douglas Avenue and the other neighbouring avenues.

Noel Staunton, Managing Director at homebuilder Taylor Wimpey Exeter, added: “The new homes are a bespoke design for Plumb Park and proving extremely popular. Almost all of the homes due for completion this year have been purchased and reservations continue to be taken. Our show homes are open seven days a week for viewing and we hope the topograph and the stunning views will entice prospective homebuyers up the hill!”

The polished granite topograph, designed by LHC Design, was created by stonemasons at the long-established, family owned Devon firm, Williams & Triggs.
