South West sawmill project
Context
Growing trees and using timber is increasingly recognised as one of the most environmentally sustainable uses of land, yet the UK imports the majority of its timber.
Meanwhile, much of the timber felled in the South West is currently transported to Wales Scotland and Germany by road or by sea to be processed.
Project
Clinton Devon Estates is working closely with the Silvanus Trust www.silvanustrust.org.uk to lead consultation work on producing a business case for a large sawmill facility in the South West, to enable timber to be processed on an industrial scale.
